In short, Trigr is synchronized photo-documentation prompted by SMS messages. Wanna know more? Read on....
A few months ago I asked 35 people if they would create a synchronized photo-diary of their lives over six weeks. I sent randomly-timed text messages to their phones, and they responded with a photo of whatever they were doing in that moment. My goal was to capture people's "real lives." I was sick of seeing only profile-worthy photos on social networking sites. Everyone is always smiling, at parties, or surrounded by friends. I wanted to see people's cubicles and coworkers, their closets and bathrooms, their commute. The moments most of us never think to capture or publish, that stuff can be unexpectedly interesting.
Over six weeks around 1500 photos were collected. They are all on flickr
here. Trigr turned out to be pretty fun, a good way to keep in touch with friends and family, and a interesting way to document your life.
I'll probably run Trigr again. If you want to participate you can
sign up. I promise I'll email you with details before I send anything to your phone. If you have ideas for ways to use this project or a specific group of people you'd like to do it with-- please
e-mail me, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
